By "another hobby" do you mean that making games is a hobby? I wouldn't call game making a hobby of mine.. i'ts more like... a reason to live.
But music I guess might be a hobby. Sometimes if I don't do anything musical for awhile tho, I feel sort of rotten. -j -------------------- ![]() why is there a big blank space here? |

well ok, I would put it more "making music" as a reason to live and making games a hobby...I mean, imagine how hollow our lives would be without music :/

I have a MIDI keyboard sitting in front of my compute, which is where I am 99% of the time, so I habitually play music ALL THE TIME. It's really nice music too, if I do say so myself.

I agree, as far as making music is concerned. To make music you _need_ hardware (basically, a synthesizer or whatever you play) and a lot of time to spend. But _writing_ music scores is a different task, and a computer can simplify this, if you know what you are doing. I personally prefer a software sequencer, such as Rosegarden 4 (similar to Cubase, but freeware). Apart from this, everything else should be hardware-based. By the way, we have the same mixer: Yours is a Behringer Eurorack, just like mine! |

Just to bump this thread, I would like to brag that I have the same guitar as Queasy.
And another one, an Epiphone SG... |

Hey Q, unsure if you know of this...
Reason. By Propellerhead. And, umm, forget the other one. My friend makes phenomenal music with some programs. Nothing he actually uses is hardware, other than his computer. Go to djabacus.net and listen to his music/see the programs he uses. Yea, I know, I'm like his unofficial promoter. He's on a parallel level with you. Although his music isn't very catchy like yours. Just very different. |

I'm more inclined to using FLStudio. I use some hardware on occasion... A recording mike (A piece of crap it is, but it still works), a Yamaha keyboard (A dang good one too)... But for the most part, just the computer.

Hah, I posted in this thread years ago talking about Skale and Buzz (both of which I never use anymore)z
I wound up buying a Novation X-Station synth/keyboard for about $500 USD, which was a great deal (this was a little over a year ago in '06) But I just cant compose music any way other than spontaneous improvising, which only sounds good to normal ears %1 of the time; maybe I should try a hardware sequencer as it's better for that sort of thing than software. |
